I know I a proposing this a little late in the year but I noticed that a lot of the other states are having get togethers of their members from the shanty. I thought I would see if there is any interest from the MT members. I know there is a lot more Montana people that view these forums than actually post regularly and it would be cool to get you guys there too. This is an open invitation to anyone interested. Call it an end of the season bash. Is there any interest?

I don't know. I was just seeing if anyone was interested. I figured we could go from there. The boat idea ain't bad. Hmm.... I registered for MFF but I am waiting for my account to be approved.

we're having maine's at an elks club with buffet, cash bar , a bunch of door prizes and various awards ;D ;)

I think we should have a get together on some open water somewhere with a barbeque and beer and fish and BS and drink beer....jiggy has a raft, i have a raft, let's load em up.

I haven't fished it, but I do know there some pigs in there, from info I got from a friend of mine who owns a fly shop in West Jellystone. But I'm not against giving it a try.

I will be gone May 9th through May 14th on a trip with "wounded warriors" on the Smith. I'll be rowing a group of film makers documenting thie annual injured vets trip a local outfitter puts on...

Count me in as well. A bit of water in Central Mt. would be good for all, travelling would be equalized for East and West.

All right guys, I think the time has come to start the wheels rolling on this one, maybe everyone can offer up their preferred waters and preferred date & we can vote on when and where? Let's see how many MT IS members we can put on the ice at once!

I have been thinking about this too. I think Canyon Ferry would be centrally located and has a good population of most types of fish. (trout, ling, walleye, some notherns, perch). There is ample room to camp or there are places to stay in Helena or Townsend. Although I would be willing to consider other places too.

CF is a little far for my gas guzzler, but there aren't really any places more centrally located with lodging close by.

Hey! I will go to CF if I am not somewhere else. Count me in. The date is not important as long as it doesn't interfear with my trip to Ft. Peck in Feb.

Icefishinlady and I just might make the trek next year!! We will have enough vacation by then and she and I have been drooling over all the beautiful scenery pics you guys have been showing us. It is mighty tempting. Two days drive there and back and three days for fishing and sightseeing.

I think that could be a lot of fun but I would be most interested in picking a date when the most people from the shanty could make it.

That is the same weekend as the Byoysen Derby I think

The Canyon Ferry Perch Derby is a blast.
I fish it every year and it's a good time.
Lots of people on the ice and a good time beer drinking at the awards area and mingling with the other derby entries.
Last year me and my buddies placed three perch in the top ten. Paid for the beer anyway.
