I'd be shocked if you can't find fishable ice next weekend....just don't know if you'll find it in McHenry cove.

I am going to try to head down sometime this week. Possibly next wednesday/ thursday.. Never fished the lake before. I bought a boat this year and want to try it out and try to learn some new spots. Being from Pa i usually fish highpoint alot but all the guys i see at the bait shop say to drive an extra 30minutes and go to Deep Creek you won't be disappointed.
Then a guy showed me a pic of a giant musky through the ice and I knew where i was starting to fish this year. Ed

That's interesting about the musky.  A lot of the local fishermen will tell you that there aren't any in Deep Creek.

Please refrain from using you boat. As you may break through any skim ice, It makes it weaker for the rest of the ice season. And takes those areas longer to refreeze. It could make for very dangerous spots for us ice fisherman. THANKS

Fished NNY Oneida was iffy when I went home other then Big bay and didn't have time on my way back down. Fished the St. Lawrence hammered the eyes just tons of shorts and my home town lake. Had one good day on the perch.

i just got up here for the first time, but fished in green glade at teh se corner in the cove. wind was brutal today. managed a few perch and a pike after awhile. only an hour or so on the ice, lots of fish on non triggered flags cuz they iced up on contact almost. as far as ice conditions, good black ice, prob four and a half to five inches when we started, maybe five and a half when we were leaving. should stay locked up good.

CC take pritts rd. all the way to the end, good parking spot to fish GG, or white oak rd. to the end to fish harvey's.

Made a trip up there yesterday. Fished cherry cove for about two hours with no luck in 20 to 30 ft of water I would guess with two inches of black ice and some white ice on top. (I don't have a flasher, I just count feet as I drop down). Also I was not using minnows, just wax worms and jigging rap. Headed to GG later after the weather really picked up, but I was pretty confused about the parking so I didn't try there. It was pretty miserable so I went home once I read 1 degrees! Could have brought my Eskimo Fatfish but somehow or another my ice stakes are missing and theres no way im setting it up even with a babys breath of wind blowing!  Will bring minnows next time for sure and pick a day when its not so cold or after I order a new set of stakes.     Good luck

ah, finally got my name registered.  New here, though have been following for a while.

Got out on some ice at Sky Valley on Friday, was a solid 4 inches of good ice.  Set the traps for an hour or so, but no luck.  We only had worms, which was a mistake, but we didn't know if we'd find any ice so didn't make the stop for shiners.  Was maybe 7 feet of water at the most, anyone have any luck there before?  Will most likely try elsewhere next time.

Just my $.02, but at GG people do usually park at the end of the road, but sometimes landowners who are there are generous and let you park if you ask them. Also lots of perch in GG. Jig poles froze up so I didn't really check depths, but tip ups were down prob 5-7 ft and picking up perch. Good black ice, if anyone jigs up a blue strike master auger pm me. Our screw fell out and the auger went down, had to run back to nicklows.
