Rod tip repair?
« on: Feb 07, 2015, 07:50 PM »
Can anyone recommend a good quality kit to repair a Fenwick rod tip?  I busted off the very end of the UL jigging rod, and I want to put a new guide on.  I've done this on a walleye rod.  I'm wondering if anyone knows a good company, and what size to order.  Thanks.

Fuji rod tip repair kit from Amazon.  Under ten. Bucks, comes with three different sized tip guides to match up to almost any size rod and glue.  It worked well for me.  You should be able to YouTube it.

also Janns Netcarft.com,,If you want an exact fit you must measure the diameter of the rod tip in 64th of an inch and then order a tip one size larger.Color and type of insert also matters,Fuji probably is the best quality.you will also need some hot melt glue

I use to have a very nice HT SUPER ultra light rod that was my go to smelt road. This rod was my most liked rod and one day i pulled it out of my rod case and it had fractured between the tip and the second guide, i was heart broken! still have not found a replacement to that rod that has even come close to how nice that rod was! some day!

I have one with a broken tip.  I just cut it to the next guide and added a spring bobber.  Works fine.

I have a one year old HT polar fire PFPT-24Ul rod and the tip fell off and I lost it. I emailed HT to get the tube diameter and ring size but they did not reply. Anyone know these specs?

I just reuse the tip that broke off. Usually you can heat it with a lighter to free up the broken piece of rod enough to pull it out. Then just reapply it to the new tip with hot glue. I have had to sand the new rod end a little to get the tip back on due to the slightly increased diameter of the rod.

Fuji kit or use a fly rod tip and some flex coat.

Gotta couple of “nice” rods that I’ve damaged over the years.   Wrapped in some Ice Strong’s with tying thread and 3-4 layers of finish...very happy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm disappointed I cannot find the tube diameter because then I could order one from sportsmensdirect.com or muddle.com
