storing plastic tails
« on: Nov 12, 2011, 08:03 AM »
Well whats the best way to store your plastic tails? In plastic bags? or lose in a jig box? Just wondering what you all do. I have had them melt all together or slime everything they have come in contact with.

http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/polybags-boxes/370101.aspx     I transfer them to these, they then can be placed in a bigger ziplock sandwich type bag sorted by color or type for easy access. They've lasted for years stored like this. Don't mix colors or different types/brands into one bag, unless you want something really strange to come out. Being organized with things readily and simply available makes life much easier on the ice

I have always kept them in the bags they come in, in a small plano box.  I have acquired enough tho that this is getting unorganized.  So...i actually just ordered 100 2x3 zip bags to put em in keeping them separated, as previously mentioned.  I do know you don't want to leave em on jigs in your jig boxes...deteriorates the paint and makes a mess of your lures.

I put them in 2x3 ziplock bags then keep them seperated by brand in a worm binder.....works great!

I try to keep them in the little plastic pouch/bag they come in when ever possible, because I feel they keep longer with minimal air getting to them.

Wish I had more storage places for them though... LOL

I have had no issues with them drying out. Leave them in the bags they come in a keep them in a cool place!

I came across some of my son's he ditched when he moved out on his own....maybe 8-9 years ago. They were a little dry and wanted to stick together.

I've got an even older bottle of original Fish Formula (an anise scented oil based attractant) that I use to rescue stuff like this. Literally 2-3 drops and they don't stick, smell nice and get all soft again.

If you buy lots of plastics and let some languish too long even sealed in bags, you know what I mean...
