I miss my Pike and am looking forward to my first year of fishing for Walleye so Mosquito lake in northeast Ohio is my plan. If it is a hard year for ice I will most likely hit the shallower bays focusing exclusively on Pike.

There is a very good trout lake (I am told) not far from me but that will be very late winter.

This weather sucks. Looking like first fishable ice (based on weather forcasts) may be after the first of the f...ing year!!! At best the last week of December.

I should move to Canada. Average taxpayer now makes more net income than average American tax payer now.

Now I'm trying to legitimize moving I want ice so bad. New shack, the itch and no ice!!! Damn.

Some place close to home. I found a decent perch hole on moffit. Love that gin clear water there also. Feels like I'm on west boji.

I may try bullhead fishing through ice this winter maybe mid-December, I like to wait for someone to test the lake before me too. It is a small lake with few cottages, my cousin owns one of these cottages. It was frozen last week but with weather around 50 farenheit 9 celsius it may be unfrozen now but the cold is back Sunday will have to wait a bit.

where would be a good place to start near Des Monies? i am from Spencer, Near Okoboji, i want to make a few trips but i don't want to get Skunked! lol

I would try brushy creek 15miles east of fort dodge. It's also not a bad drive from Spencer to storm lake but I would rather fish spirit for eyes if I lived where u did. If u do wanna make the haul down towards des Moines lake ahquabi by indianola us pretty good as is 12 and 3 mile. And big creek can be good too.

I'll be on the ice with shantytown the 7th-10th of Dec. in a sleeper.. Shes good do go up nordth boys...

Extended forecast looks like upper 40s around here at that time. Probably wont be ANY walkable ice in Iowa till at least the 15th of December the way its looking. Im afraid it's gonna be another one of them years.

Extended forecast looks terrible. I thought last winter was the warmest yet but then again we were on the ice 5th of December! This year the 15th doesnt even look possible. Hopefully christmas?

Weeds are sparce and waters low this year, we was scouting/fishing on West Sunday and lots of normal popular spots are barren of weeds this year... If we get 20" of ice Lil Millers will be soild to the bottom....Even Smiths was almost void of weeds...Those that are there will take alot of looking if you don't already have them mapped out...

Hey this cold weather is promising! lets hope we can stay under thirty for a bit now. I would really like to hit up a lot of gravel pits in northern Iowa, Everything is sooooo loooooww the water level will be helping round up fish into small areas.

i bet there will be someone fishing anglers this weekend just hope who ever tries it plays it safe and stays dry. 30 day doesn't show but a couple of days above freezing for a high and a lot of single digits for a lows from accuviewforecast
