Advise on where to go on Lake Champlain for Pike?
« on: Jan 24, 2012, 02:17 PM »
I am looking for a good place to go for Pike at Lake Champlain. I have taken boat out of Converse Bay and Sheburne Bay but have never iced fish and I have been wanting to for so long now. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I live in Claremont NH but I'm not afraid to travel. I will be taking a wheeler along as well. Any help would be very appreciated.

Any bay off RT2 in the Champlain Islands. Starts at the Sandbar ends at Canada.

Try Carry Bay off rt. 2,park on side of road put in at Birdland you can do carry or wheeler out and to the left and fish Pelots Bay,Go stay at Holiday Harbor and fish where Bruce has his shanties or head up to Missisquoi Bay park at the boat ramp or just drive out, there's  10 to 12 inches of ice.Have fun Good luck

I've heard of Missisquoi Bay before. Is that place any good? I saw those pictures of the Pike at Kellys Bay and was wondering about that place too! Just alittle bit nerve racking trying to find a new place and trying to figure out where to park, what to look for etc.

Anywhere in Missisquoi bay would be good especially on the Highgate Springs side. Great pike fishing just south of the Holiday Harbor Motel which is really set up well for fishermen and he has bait and tackle. Lots of nice pike come out of there every winter.
Taught ice fishing for pan fish by one of the best...Art Rye may he RIP

Hope that then Carry Bay access point doesn't get shut off because of people taking their wheelers on between the camps.Saw one of the camp owners up there a few years back, and he was pissed that people were driving on between those camps. They were driving both wheelers and vehicles.Maybe he's cool with it now,but I don't know.Just a thought.
But all the areas mentioned can produce good fish.St A bay is another spot also.

Seriously, the lake is 125 miles long with 587 miles of shoreline. Pick a weed edge.
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
