Any news on smelt running?

I know it is an ice fishing forum but the smelt are what we use for bait.

over on upangler they said that they're running on the east end. no word on the west though.

Yep they ran real good this weekend towards Drummond Island. I drove by some Superior streams and the tribal guys were out setting nets along the beach. It shouldn't be long.

I can't even think about eating anymore smelt at this point.  Had a pretty good ice season and was even able to set some aside in the freezer for next year's fishing as well.

Last weekend at the Carp, they did pretty good. The rivers to the west and north should be picking up.

Changed my middle name to "You should have been here yesterday".         Remember it's called fishing, not catching.
