Teal Lake (Negaunee)
« on: Jan 07, 2010, 07:46 AM »
Thinking about trying Teal this weekend.  Anyone hear about how the catch is?  Will report on ice and catch upon return.

It's worth a try out of convenience.  Do you know if you can get on ice from Al Quaal side?  Thanks for the reply regardless.

Hey, you just gave me a shade of hope saying that "usually just wait till theres enough ice and drive my truck out there".  So, you've been there a few times then eh.  My plans may have changed to Fish Lake upon talking to a buddy a minute ago.  Either way, I'll report back.  Thanks.

There are a few big walleyes in there, but they are very far and in between, Don't get your hopes up with teal, you'll more than likely be disappointed. Not to mention, there are so many more lakes within a 15 min drive from there that would produce more fish.

I used to hammer the 14 3/4" walleyes during the summer. We would get 40 in an evening and keep one or two 18-20". It's been a while since I fished it but the best spot was in front of the big house on the Al Quaal end or off the point just east.

Seeing Teal Lake brought back some Old memories for me. I was in the Air Force at KI from 75-83. Fished it a few times on the soft water . Good luck.

teal lake is a nice place to fish, but very hard place to catch.  you can see from the results of some of the recent fishing derbys there that the catch is slow.  http://www.negauneeirontown.com/fishing.htm  all they have online is 2006 & 2007 numbers, but I've heard from participants that 08 and 09 were just as bad or worse.  also heard that all the fish that made the board last year were caught with cameras.  wish I had a better suggestion for you.  sure is real easy to get to though.

If you want to drive a snowmobile, yeah go ahead.  Otherwise you'd might be asking for trouble.  It's pretty slushy ice on top and then some good ice below that; and with 40 for a high tomorrow I'm guessing even quads are going to be getting stuck out there.

There have been a few caught there in the last 3 years or so..........either somone is doing a little planting or they have enetered somehow form the Carp thru Sucker Creek.
If you jig it,they will come..............
