Forecast is looking half way decent, I guess thats my cue to go and drop some money on ice fishing stuff, hate to put all new line only to use it a few times.
But don't quote me on that. I have a drinking problem, I keep running out of beer. I've always been a little bit crazy, but its kept me from going insane.

this next work week is ice making temps tho. could spell trouble for the green grass and golfers.

if temps stay like next weeks, i think my area will have ice in two weeks as long as we don't get dumped on snow wise, all is not lost yet

Agree 100%...forecast looks good, minus any significant snowfall and windy nights I think we'll have walkable ice by Jan. 10...(2 weeks from yesterday). Water at my first ice lake is 34deg on the surface, it's ready to go....things are going to happen fast this year.

Got my first look at some ice on a small pond here in Eaton county. Looks soft and skimmy, but its better than nothing at this point.
I’m a psycho and will sleep in the parking lot so I can get out on the ice before you.

I'm also in Eaton County.  I know what you mean. Just seeing a little ice on the ponds in the morning gives some hope. Looking at the ten-day forecast, maybe we'll get some ice starting on the lakes. Even so, 20's at night and 30's in the day really ain't good enough for January.

just did my daily long term forecast look up..........for the first time in a long time, I like what I see.

I think I will be on the ice on Jan 16th

Latest I can ever remember, but a week ago I figured we would be lucky to hit the ice by the end of Jan.

Is it safe to get the gear out yet, it looks like we might get back on the dance floor pretty soon.

Went to a couple secluded ponds that I fish in the summer for bass and lunker gills. They are surrounded by heavy tree cover and hills, which makes for a perfect ice making situation with the unfortunate windy conditions. Went out there yesterday, a nice portion was frozen over just as I expected. Will be going back out on monday with a spud bar and mayyyyybeee some waxies and a panny rod. A guy can dream right? High/low for monday is 19 and 9. Ironic?

Seeing some single digit lows in the forecast, can you dig it.

30. Small ponds near the house are 75% frozen. Not even shore ice on the bigger local lakes. Now through Tuesdays weather looks promising however.
