The student beats the teacher
« on: Feb 19, 2023, 07:24 PM »
It has been hard to get out this year with the weather as most of us know... been boiling maple syrupsince January.  Finally got to take my son out on some decent ice today before we head up to long lake for a week. Had to get the cobwebs off the traps. Well, looks like a new chapter has started as my 6 year old kicked my a** today! 3 adults to 1 child and he got more than each one of us and the biggest! What a joy it is to ee your kid go and tend his own flags, and actually haul in some fish. Pickerel all day, but to me they might as well been bars of gold!

Your boy with smile like that while he puts a few up on ya… looks like Dad took home a huge W to me.
Perhaps I should not have been a fisherman, he thought. But that was the thing that I was born for.

Hopefully he'll be kicking your ______ for years to come and on a regular basis...

As others have said, looks like a win to me...

Thanks all! And yes, best loss I have ever had. I fondly remember the first time I beat my father brook fishing, watching him yesterday brought a lot of those memories back. I am pretty certain my father was watching down helping his grandson and laughing saying "how does it feel?"

Nice job, good to see young one enjoying outdoor activities. Most just want to play video games, good work dad.

That’s great , as they get older they build on top of what we teach them so down the road we all hope they become good fishermen or women , and getting our arzs handed to us is a big compliment, keep up the good work

Fortunately I struggle with my kids when I tell them they have to stay inside. I am so happy he is off and running, now I have more time to work with my 4 year old daughter... she isn't too far behind him though

Very nice!  I bet he was a happy (& tired) kid after a day of chasing flags!

I took my daughter out on Sunday...1 rat pickerel to keep the skunk away!!  But we still had a good time.   ;D

Awesome post. Don't blink! They grow up way too fast. Mine started off on the ice on a car seat mounted on a sled.....hes now taller than me and kicks my *ss in the fish department everytime he comes. And I love it!
Keep doing what you're doing man!

Yes, the grow up to fast for sure. We are headed to maine ice fishing next week for his school vacation and all he is talking about is kicking all the guys butts... I hope he does! But kinda hope his little sister puts him in his place and knocks his cockiness down a notch. Haha I was probably the same way. Glad we have another trip coming or else I would be hearing about it till next season

So we are away ice fishing for the week for the kids school vacation. I am one up on the boy, my daughter is laying claim to the fish because she picked out the shiner to put on, can't argue with that logic I guess (she's 4). This has been one of the best weeks with these kids, even my wife took the idea across the lake yesterday! Great memories have been made and some more to come!
