Ice Fishing (sort-of)
« on: Dec 05, 2020, 08:55 PM »
Headed to Middle park for a Saturday adventure, should of known it wouldn't go exactly as planned when you see this @ 7a.m.

Tabernash :-)

First lake is still closed, due to the fires. Ice didn't look that great anyways. 2nd stop, Granby looked like something out of a Stephan King movie. There was so much fog or clouds on the lake, you could hardly even see the water. Plan C, headed to my favorite MP lake EVER, and almost ran into a friend  :o

She just wanted to catch up to her friends, glad my coffee cup was empty!

Lake had a skim layer of ice around the boat ramp, & there actually was a dude out there on it. Thought it might be Slayer, but then remembered he doesn't fish for Lakers  ;D

Went to a spot and threw some Kastys not much happening, so switched to tubes & nailed a nice 20!

Let her go thinking it would be good Karma, but it was not to be. Threw every color tube I had, but no other bites. Weather was absolutely beautiful, & I think that was the problem. It was dead calm & the water was super clear. I'll be back when it freezes, Like I said I love this lake  ;)

Hope everyone had a great day too!

Great report, Johnny— and nice laker.

I’m planning to be on I-70 later this month for some ice, even though I agree, it sucks.

I hear that!

Came home @ 4:00 on a Sat yesterday, which wasn't bad. Sundays are a nightmare that I try to avoid at all costs!

Yep, it can be good for numbers, not many huge fish though. You can try right off the Heenry ramp, or the north side parking area, by the Big Green campground.
