I know its not ice fishing but my five year old landed a 26 1/2 brown on his first open water trip of the year.

He did get pretty tired fighting it and handed me the rod for a minute but then he finished landing it himself.  He is pretty proud of this fish and asked me if he could please mount it and put it in his room so it came home with us.  He really liked the big hooked jaw on it.
