I am about to leave for a small farm pond here in the Indianapolis area....I know each body of water is different but do you think there will be enough ice?  thanks

I'm way north of you here in Detroit...but from what I've been reading and observing...you should have no problem....Indiana and Ohio have been reporting pretty good ice conditions while us here in the north have been lambasted with snow making for rough ice making conditions...at best!  I'm guessing you're gonna be okay......here's my disclaimer....be super safe and don't take my word for it....take your spud!

Go for it, I don't see why a small farmpond wouldn't be ready.  What does it hurt to check, if its not safe it gives you an idea of how much longer you need to wait, better to know for sure rather than sit around wondering.

there is 5 to 6 inches on some small farm ponds, that also includes the deep areas.
if your not walking on water, then you're not icefishing!

I'll take all the keepers I can get but I let all of them go anyway......that way they're still there next year.  Of course, this pond is pretty small.  Now if I get out to Summit soon, things might be a little differnt ;D
