does anybody know how thick the ice is with the warm weather
-
Not sure now but there were guys out there Sunday. Also go to the reports and conditions board.
-
Does anybody know the ice conditions at Glimmerglass? Was hoping to go in the morning.
-
Either the people going there are tight lipped or they don't visit this site. You would be surprised as how many don't know this site exists. And NO I don't know conditions up there in the last 5 days.......... Would definitely like to find out.

Thanks for the reply Shawn......... Kim

A friend of mine was on three mile point. Thursday in the rain. I'm not sure of conditions. Use caution if you venture out.
-
use a spud
a lot of the regulars won't give condition reports because of the harassment ....if someone said the ice was safe another person will jump in and say it's not if you say the ice is bad another member will say it's fine .....
me personally I would suggest no matter what you take a spud and check the conditions for yourself no matter what anyone says
I have seen open water reported it and had other people swear the ice was good and they walked on it .... don't believe no one check for yourself
-
Exactly Trapper. Take a ride with your gear and wait until daylight. Trust your judgment and gut feeling.
-
Absolutely take a spud and check for yourself , I don’t normally depend on the reports as I have been BSd where ice was wasn’t good only to find out later there was 6” , and also just the opposite, , just an old dogs .02

Thanks guy's - Open water 3-4 ft away from shore @ Glimmerglass - Went to 3 mile and 6-8 good ice there - crazy winds out there today :)
-
Wow 3-4 ft of open water to get on the ice at glimmerglass? Did it look like anywheres you could still get on or do you think I’d need a plank? If you don’t mind me asking, appreciate it.
-
You can get on @ Glimmerglass - there's a few places that are tight.
-
Thanks! Appreciate the report.
-
No problem, heading there in the morning .
-
be careful ice is moving and shifting. solid shored turned to open water
-
Dang..Maybe I’ll have to plan on going elsewhere tmrw.

Was on 5 mile yesterday. 8in of ice at 30ft of water. Was very windy so only about 3 shanty’s out. No flags but marked fish at 16 ft. The shore was broken up but only a foot so was able to step over onto solid ice. Just stay away from docks, people use airaetors to keep ice from forming.

Wife and I there today. 8" of black ice MEASURED!! Parking can be tight. Great day to be out. Fishing another matter. Put laker tipups and perch tipups at various spots. 2 flags on lakers but both short. NO FLAGS on perch the whole day. Moved to shallower waters and jigged 3 keeper perch and released 6. You have to be diligent and move to keep on the perch. Hope this helps........

great posts everybody. thanks for the info, Little falls is an hour a way from any place where there is good fishing so I am glad to see posts about safe ice since this weekend was a real "BLAST".

Fair warning about all of these posts. Check the date! February 2019 was last season so bring a boat if you plan to go today on 12/29/2019.

very true. otsego is wide open water with some thin skim ice along the southern end.
