19 degrees this morning, clear and no wind.
Happy New Year to everyone. Made 15 bean soup yesterday. It is suppose to bring good luck in the new year.
Eddie, I haven't seen anyone on the ice up this way in almost 2 weeks. Not sure how the high lake levels will effect the ice fishing. Never seen it this high before during the winter.
WW, glad you got the remote issue solved. I would be lost without a remote.
Wife is doing well. No food after midnight, they are going into the lung today to check it out. X-rays are looking good. Thanks for thinking of her.
Doing some "house work" today.
Have a good day...h2l

Still icy around here from the rain and snow we got new Years Eve. Not looking for a warm up any time soon. More sow guessed for today. I had to go rescue the old lab this morning as she fell and could not get back up in the dog  run. I took her back in the front door. I need to find some pet friendly ice remover and a tube of sand to help her out. I need to get a bucket of sand next summer and dry it out or bring some wood ashes over to help with the ice issues.

Like it has been for years I was in bed long before the ball dropped. I gave up going out on New Years Eve a long time ago.

WS Nothing wrong with dating a cousin if you move to Tennessee. It sounds like you met a great woman that is not a relative.

ww. I think I made the correction in the newspaper article to the corn recipe that the sour cream in it is 8 oz. Some one always makes it for our get togethers. There is never any left overs. Every once in a while our remote's will get screwed up making it a pain to fix. The main pain with these is they will not shut the whole system down with a push of one button like there are supposed to. I actually know where the button is to turn the TV off. It is in the back of the TV but easy to find using braille.

H2l Hoping your wife gets to come home soon. I thing you already know that we are all praying for her.

Capt Jim I guess I did not know you had RA. The wife's daughter has it so I know how nasty it can be. She got it from her late father that had it bad. Combining it with a stroke he suffered before he passed away.

I need to get moving as I have to go to an online auction place to see if they will be able to deal with a guy from AK that wants to buy a couple of guns from them. Chip that is on Life Below Zero is interested in getting Mosin Nagen rifles for his wife.

Evening, Gang

Another day in the 50's

I.F.F. - we should all catch one of those at one time or another, WTG

45 - it sounds like a long time, but it will go faster than you think, it is the final outcome that counts

T.T. - been treating the R.A. since '05, have had it longer, just didn't realize it till Dr. diagnosed it then, just like everyone else, good days & bad days, one of the 'pleasures' of
'aging gracefully' :(, I have a cousin on my mother's side who was diagnosed  with it before he got out of high school, that goes back to the mid 70's

                Good morning Eddie, ER's
                         It's 24* and snowing, there's about 1.5" on the ground. The guessers said 1 to 3, we'll see. ::)
Bud.......That's an awesome catch, congrats.
I-45......When is your surgery scheduled? Like the Capt. said it's not the time but the outcome. Good luck with it.
Eddie....That's an early start, I bet there won't be an inspector there that early!
Marv.....I hope you got some relief at the Chiropractor.
Wally....I'm glad that your "TV" issue is resolved.
Not much going on here today, my #2 son was supposed to come and help me put a new stove in but has to take little Carson

Good morning Eddie, IW! Good morning Everyone

18 heading to 34  later today, with tomorrow bringing 40 with some sun.

Eddie good luck with the terrazzo today, glad you get to hold up indoors  I was able to get 3 traps so that gives me a total 0f 6. Last year I ended up with 15 moles, guessing there will be less activity this year. It worked best to use two traps on every run, now I will be able to throw some extra iron at them if they decide to pay a visit.

WW you are correct about flying under the radar for the month of January. This is busiest month of the year for my wife and most nights she will be coming home frazzled. The best I can do is to become Mr invisible  ;D

IW is the tree curbside? I brought ours out to where the turkeys come to eat. Yesterday a couple of them sat on the tree keeping an eye on things, crazy birds.

Yesterdays Chiropractor visit went OK although I need to see him a tomorrow and a couple of times next week. I am using a ice bag now and that has really helped. I was using a heating pad but that stopped helping and actually made it worse. The problem was that heat is good for muscles but not for nerve damage. My back has been driving me crazy for the last month or so. I tried doing what my general Dr. said but that just made it worse, so I am going to see how the Chiropractor does.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.

30 degrees and it looks like about 3 inches of snow. The plow just went by the house.

Ice-45 you are in my thoughts and prayers. You will have to find a new hobby.

Eddie, the soup was very good. Even I couldn't mess it up.
WW, the wife talks to a couple of her Doctors today. ( We were suppose to go down there today, glad I didn't have to drive with this snow. ) I thought the Dr. would have called after they checked out the lung yesterday. I am sure they are getting back up to speed after the holidays. When I talked to the wife last night she was tired still not quite out of the meds they had given to her. She wanted something good to eat.
Have a good day....h2l

We got a little more snow yesterday. O I bought a sand tube yesterday. I has some small stone in it. This morning I had to take the old dog around to the front door as she was afraid to climb the ramp. I will clean of the ramp aging today and put more sand on it. I will have some real sand for the ramp next winter.

Eddie I was unable to talk to the owner of the auction site yesterday. The woman that I did talk to, I think she might be his wife, seemed like there was no problem with Chip buying as there is an FFl at his village store. I sent Chip a PM telling him to go ahead and register and bid if he wants to. No telling what he is up to this time of year up there. The auction ends today. Their is 4 hour difference in time between the eastern time zone and AK. Chip will have to make note of that to bid.

ww Our cable company is in a dispute with the company that they get Fox from over a huge price increase so no Fox for now. It is free if you can get it on an antennae. The switch to digital TV has left those in the sticks with no choice but to buy cable or a dish as we can not get TV any other way. Same with internet unless you want to go on dial up.

I have tried so much muffin bread that had the taste and texture of white bread. I thought that  the muffin bread was not right that my son brought me over on Christmas. I looked at the sticker and the name on the wrapper. I realized it was not made from the recipe that my friend uses, it lacks the secret ingredient in his. Looking at the bag it had my friends name on it. It was made by his son in law that sued and got his name to use on the bread when they spit up. His son out law might have gotten his name but not the recipe. I need to fix some liver dumplings for my boys as they love them. A lot of times it is hard to find beef short ribs with the bone in. The need the bone in for the broth to come out right.

H2L I hope your wife can come home soon so you can fix her some real food.

Good evening, nice to see everyone had a good New Years day. While I was up did not watch the ball drop from Times Square . On New Years day went out to lunch with a friend to local Cracker Barrel seem many people had the same idea placed was crowded. Good time catching up on what is going on in each others lives.
Ice Wanderer glad you have a great time at the comedy show. Talk with Mr. turkey about how to properly clean your C-Pap machine if you still have a runny noise build of bacteria in the machine might cause for it. Hope little carson had a good check up at doctors. Best with the new stove installation.
Eddie good to hear someone has ice to fish on still waiting for colder weather down here in south eastern NY. Bet your crew is happy to finally be working inside and off of concrete jobs.
Whopper Stopper hope the chiropractor is able to provide you some relief from the back pains. May your mole problems be minor this year.
Old Goat congrats on a good trip to the casino may the chance to use new jigs happen in coming weeks.
IFF congratulations on the rainbow how did your friend make out good you were able to make the trip. Looks like you area is in for a warm up may it not affect the ice to badly.
Icefisher-45 sorry your still having problems with insurance. all the best whenever you have your first surgery.
OldSailor sure you love every trip where your daughter#1 out fishes you nice you have a hobby to share.
Capt.Jim may your R.A. problems improve not easy to paint of lay tile when your in pain.
Tom Turkey glad your lab was not injured by he spill. May things work out for Chip Hailstone to get your guns . Be nice if you saw his family using them in an episode of Life Below Zero.
Deerfishyfishy hope your getting back up to speed at work after your vacation may congress figure out a budget plan  so you and other federal employees get your paychecks.
Trophylaker1 many of us waiting for ice to form at this time. Hopefully all of us will be cutting holes and catching fish through them before to long.

Good Morning Everyone,
Calm and 30* this am, high of 40 today. We ended up with just a dusting of snow here yesterday, it looked like styrofoam beads falling, lol.

Steve...fortunate to have a few smaller local lakes locked up at the moment here, enough to test some gear out anyway. Glad you had nice time catching up with your friend New Years Day!
I-45...seems Workers Comp is always a battle...hang in there buddy!  Best wishes sent for some good news soon!
Tom...anxious to hear how that auction turned out for you! That would be awesome if Chip won the bid...   Liver dumplings I’m not familiar with...sound interesting!
H2...hope yesterday was a good day for your wife and today brings better news!
Marv...sorry to hear of the back issues, hopefully the next few sessions with the chiropractor will take care of that. Get well soon Sir...we need some ice adventures here!   ;D
Wally...I loaded up my ice gear as soon as I got home yesterday. Found my granddaughter less than happy to take her nap when I came in the house. So grandpa spent some time with her trying to get that under control...next thing I knew it was me taking a nap, lol. Going this afternoon....
Jeff...good luck with the stove today, be careful with that shoulder! Hope Carson faired well at the Dr.’s yesterday!
No issues with any inspectors yesterday, but I think we interrupted the sleep of a few of the homeless people who were inside out of the elements. Those jackhammers make an ungodly echo throughout the Concourse area.

First section of terrazzo removal went well yesterday, it was a maiden voyage for some of the new guys and they all worked out well. Today we’ll be pouring the new piece and getting another area tented in and ready for Monday.
Hitting the ice after work...going to bring my hub and see if I can get on a “ crappie “ bite after the sun goes down for a bit. Time to get the last 8hrs. in....cawfees on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

                     Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 28* and calm a high of 38* is in the forecast. ::)
Eddie.........That was probably well deserved nap, that happens to me as well. Good luck on the ice this afternoon. :flex:
Steve.........Cracker Barrel seems to draw a big crowd anytime. Glad you got to catch up with your friend. I have been
Cleaning my machine the way the respiratory therapist instructed. It's possible that not using the humidifier in the machine is the cause.
I went to the Dr. yesterday afternoon and said I have a viral infection not bacterial but he did order an antibiotic to pick up in 3 days if I'm
not better by then. Last night I used the humidifier, let see if that helps. ???
I-45...........Workers Comp can be stubborn at times, keep at them. :flex:
Marv...........I must have missed reading about a back injury or is it something that has been on going for sometime. ???
Today the new stove get put in, I have my #2 and #3 sons coming to help move it up stairs so I don't use my arm.
I hope everyone has a good day either at work or out on the ice!

Good morning Eddie, IW! Good morning everyone

The guessers are makings claims of low 40's today if the sun stays out, time will tell

Eddie nothing wrong clonking out with the grand daughter    good luck on the ice this afternoon  I am toying with a couple of outings, will see how things go.

IW like Eddie said good luck with the stove and mind the shoulder. Hope it all goes in problem free  My back has been bothering me for a year. I have just been putting up with it and trying to be mindful of it when doing things. My general Dr said it was a torn muscle between my ribs, and it would take time to heal. The Chiropractor said it was a pinched nerve and not a muscle. That was the reason my wife wasn't happy with my fishing trip I took before Christmas. Things had escalated and I was having a hard time walking around due to spasms. She was concerned with my heading out to the boonies solo. The one adjustment and hitting the ice pack already has shown improvements.

mr.clean once you have some ice do you plan on going out a few times this winter? Hope your schedule allows you some time

WW hope your day goes well  Striker suits and a bike would be an interesting idea ???

Time to head up and take a spin on the elliptical and then off to my Chiropractor.

Hope you all have an excellent Friday  Stay safe!

27* and clear.

Wife called at 10:30 yesterday morning saying she can come home. A quick shower, pack up her meds for the drive home, and I was in her room by 2:30pm. Got home about 9 last night. She is feeling fine. Her Doctor told her it was an infection in the old lung caused by the drain tube. The spot they took out of the old lung was NOT cancer so I guess it was all worth it to find out. With no immune system she has to be so very careful at all times. Scout was happy to see her.

Not much planned for today. Between the drive and snow-blowing the driveway yesterday, my back is sore. I don't think I have used it since Nov. I am sure it will get used again before winter is over.

Have a good day and Thanks for the thoughts and prayers...h2l

Ice-45 hope all is well with you. Thoughts and prayers being sent your way...h2l

Good morning gang,

H2l, glad your wife made it home and is feeling better! Hope your back feel better with a little rest  :)

Not much new to report here. I have changed my work schedule so that I have Fridays off now instead of Mondays so that we have 5 day coverage at work since we had of couple guys retire at the end of the year. Now we just need some cold air so I can get on the ice!

Hope everyone has a great day! Good luck, stay safe, and feel better  :)

Heavy rain guessed for Monday, with a lot of 40's next week. This has been the weirdest winter I have seen in my 75 years on this earth. I got the snow blower out yesterday and blew the snow off of the ice on the drive way so it can melt with out making a sloppy mess. I am the only one in the neighbor hood that keeps their drive way clean.

Eddie The liver dumplings are an old German recipe that came from my dads mother. Sadly I never saw her much after my folks divorced when I was 5. The liver is ground so you do not know it is even in their.

The only time I really ran a jack hammer was the year I graduated from HS. That concrete was the hardest I have ever seen. I ached for a week from doing it.

I seem to take a nap almost every day. I have fatigue that I blame on some of the meds I take. I have an appointment with my DR next week so we will be discussing it. When I was younger I could take a small nap before supper and be ready to work at home until dark.

WS Hopefully your chiropractor can get things straightened out for you. I went to one 4 times because my back was out of place. He made no attempt to put it back in so I went to a DO that put it back in in just a few minutes so I could go back to work. The DO put it back in place one time right in the hallway.

Mr C Those were not my guns on the auction. There has been a few Mosins on the auction lately. He is very particular on what he wants so maybe these were not what he wanted. I started PMing with Chip when his daughter almost got hit trying to set the safety's on a 330 conibear. I suggested that he set them in the house. We both agreed that the producer of the show wanted the drama for TV that almost got his daughter hurt. He now has them set with the safety's on before he leaves the house to H with the producer.

IW Have you tried putting water in the tank with out turning on the heater. They do make a cleaner for the equipment but it is not covered by insurance. The used car salesman that could not make it selling cars was trying to sell me one where I get my supplies from. The bi-0pap I am on now will almost drowned me filling up the mask with water even with the heater shut off so I do not put water in it. Luckily I have a great immune system so I have not had any issues from not keeping up on cleaning my mask and tubing.

I-45 I was only on workman's comp one time. I fell 10 feet when a ladder went down breaking a small bone in the side of a foot. I spent 8 weeks in a cast plus two weeks at home. Months later the comp carrier sent me a bill wanting a half day of wages back as I fell right after lunch. I just ignored them and never got another bill.

H2l I see you posted while I was hunting and pecking. That is great news to here your wife is back home. Prayers that she does not have to go back other than for regular check ups. I am sure that Scout was happy to see here come in the door.

Good evening 945rs.. sorry I haven't really had time to post much.. kiddos got me running crazy..
Eddie.. good to hear there were no issues with the inspectors..SOMETIMES they can be a real "stick in the mud" haha
H2l... glad to hear your wife is coming home! That's gotta be a relief. Hopefully the healing and her health continues to get better every day..
I45.. comp can REALLY SUCK sometimes..
g
GOOD LUCK!!!
WS.. hopefully you get your back straightened out soo!!
TT.. I deal with daily fatigue as well.. actually my whole life.. a few years back I was diagnosed with a blood disease that is a precursor to lukemia and fatigue is one of the main issues.. so I feel your struggles!!!
DFF... seems to be a general consensus about needing some colder air!!!
I bought a new ion this year..now no ice..FRUSTRATING!!!
As for me... we have a wrestling tournament tomorrow an hour away from home.. weigh ins start at 7.. so gotta get the kiddos up by 515 at the latest.. tomorrow should be a good tourney.. we should see some kids we havent wrestled before.. which is good because he needs to hone his skills some.. worked on a couple moves this week.. the pump handle and the illusive double arm bar(which he got put in last week).. needs more work with double arm bar before he tries to apply it..
Sunday a.m. hope to cut down a apple tree in yard that has become an issue with my house..
I'll try to pos again tomorrow night
Have a great night everyone
