You need to find 7 - 10 fow in the little lake or in the channel area.  Run small green jigs with spikes and don't fish one spot for more then 2 min. once you find the magic hole you will know it.

The 18" eye in that pic had 7 baby yellows in it's stomach so I wish you good luck.  Because its going to be all luck.  If you want I would look on some sharp break lines you might get lucky. Sunset will give you the best odds.  Post your report when you get back.   Thanks

Took boys out from 1-4:30 Sunday. What a way to start the season!

198 yellows and an 18" WALLEYE.  :o

We fished in 5 to 7 fow.
My congratulations luckydog35, truly!
It's a great success. Walleye and crappy are my favorites. I'm SO IMPAITIENT to start ice-fishing.
There are many clear lakes on Ontario. Where is yours? If possible send pm with the location.
I could not wait anymore. I drove to Simcoe last night for perch fishing from shore.
I know it sound insane night fishing for perch but...
I've received set of wolfram mormyshkas recently. I caught 25 perch in 1 hour.

The yellows are a little better than last year 9+. There are a bunch of small fish so moving to locate quality fish is required.

There has been a load of water on the ice. I would use extreme caution for the near future!

Be safe

The ice is looking good.  Not much water on top and the fishing is still good. My friend is out now and they don't have any water on the ice were he is fishing.

Yeh ice was in good shape as of yesterday 5+ yet on farmers.  Supposed to get cold again so she will stiffen back up nice.  Just in time to test out the new lazer pro

Yeh I thought since the 3 horse weighs the same as the 2 figured why the heck not..  Old one is gonna get a chippper on it and spend the rest of its life reopening old holes.

Precision instruments are always nice ;D

WOW  !!!! The fog set in pretty heavy.

Got out with my brother for 2 hours this afternoon fished 1-330. We don't get to do that enough and the fish cooperated too boot.

70 yellows in the bucket. The fish were a little more finicky believe it or not.

Ice was ok, just use common sense around the holes with running water!!

I don't mean to pry on you CL locals, but I was there from 9-1 on Tuesday, fished Mcintosh and only caught 22 yellows and not a one of them was even big enough to fillet. We drilled probably 30 holes and only had luck in one spot. Is Mcintosh not the good place to fish? I caught better ones walking off Farmers last year and should have just done that the other day I guess. I did catch one 5" crappie in about 6 fow along with a small perch and a really small eye.

343 = 686 delicious fillets! That is awesome!

It can be tough when you make the trip up. Sorry you didn't get into any good ones.  :(

It's no different when I sit here and drool over the IGL's and have to make decide when, where, how for a day trip.

The whole lake can be good (all about timing and finding fresh fish). I just go to low traffic areas, stay away from crowds when possible.

You should be focusing on the water less than 9' for the most active fish right now. yesterday I worked 6-7'.

Good Luck

I would say the same thing Derek. Every time I make a trip out I'll find 3 to 4 different areas (away from the crowd) that are all the same in depth and turn them to Swiss cheese.  There has been some good keepers coming from the little lake so there is fish in there. Try going north just out from the rushes. and then try going west.  I spoke with the crazy minnow also and there has been reports of some walleyes caught over by the grade.  If you go out from farmers and work towards the channel you will find fish.  You cant stop looking until you find them.  The fish, out from farmers roam over the whole west end looking for food.  If you find a good pile in one hole drill 30 more all around it. Good Luck  ;)
