Nice Weekend on Winni

Was a great weekend on winni weather wise but the fishing was terrible! The best ice conditions for me in a while. Saw hundreds of smelt in the holes but of course you cant fish for them  Had three flags in 23 hours of fishing. Hate those blue bird days!!! Two guys i was fishing with caught 2 rainbows one 17, and one 19. I caught 5 cusk as well.




Close to 80 smelt in this hole alone, same amount in every other hole.

biggest tagged rainbow was 3.05lbs

They were 2-3 inches long. But some nice 5-6 inch ones came in later in the evening.

Some do, but some look like nice bait. Would explain the slow fishing though. Tons of bait  = Slow fishing.
They still got plenty of smelts over there because we "The Great State Of Maine" provide most all of there smelts.   Why use there smelts up when they can get them somewhere else.
