It's that time again for the 9th annual Ice Shanty Bartons Cove gathering !

That'sright folks, a full day featuring Feasting, Drinking , Jigging, Peppermint Patties, Flying Fish,
Shrimp on the Barbi', wind, "Ron Inhales Deeply With Pursed Lips", Portakevich and the Russians,
Wind, Atomic hook sets, Frozen Shiners, Laughter, Moonshine, Pondie Porn, Home Brew, chowder,
Olympic Table Lugging, wind and a little fishing thrown in.

Come visit some of Ice Shanty's history and help make legends of the future.

What: A gathering of the IceShanty tribe for bass, brats and B.S.

When: Sat, Feb. 7th from sun up to whenever. Foul weather date Sun Feb. 14thth

Where: Bartons cove on the the Conn. River just off of Rt 2 Gill, Ma. at the Power company campground. Use Main Rd. Gill for Mapquest Etc. (about 1/4 mile further down Rt.2)

There is a large parking area that can accommodate 50 + vehicles. It is an easy commute from anywhere as it is directly off of Rt. 2 not far from Rt. 91 in Gill MA just above the Turners Falls dam. For mapquest etc. use Main Rd Gill. You can expect to catch everything from Perch to Pike and all things in between. Last year a nice Walleye hit the ice! We have iced pike at every gathering with several getting their first pike ever. We also had at least two people who iced their first fish ever!. We are going to continue with the take it and leave it raffle this year as well. Years past have been a great time and this year should be better than ever. If you can only make one organized event this year, this is the one to make!

fishing a1 with daughter as she wants to do the tourney circuit this season. bummed as I really wanted to make it this year, has never worked out for me schedule wise to join the cove shenanigans

I am gonna try my best to make it..I made it the last 2 years....first yaer was not so great fishing wise....but last year was awsome thanks to some great guys helping me out and pointing me in the right direction...and I got my first pike of the season...great chance to get out and meet fellow shanty members

The A-1 Bassmasters Touney is on Lake Chauncy in Westborough on the 7th.
Also, Easthampton Rod & Gun Tourney (Oxbow) is on the 7th & 8th

Unfortunately no. It is just a photo of the cove that I took and happen to like. She should be ready by next weekend though.

I have been wanting to get in on this gathering for a few years now, however, as long as it's on the same weekend as the meredith rotary derby, I won't be able to make it!! Hope to cause trouble with yall some day though!

I fish the cove with the kids during the summer often. Haven't fished the ice there in over 25 years, but we'll be there.

Howdy to one and all. I have been purposely quiet for a few days so Ed and the gang could have the board for the roving gathering this weekend. Since that is just about over let's start talking about the Cove!

So glad to hear from so many of you. This event really was where so many of us first met. Pilgrim, great to hear from you and hope you can make it out, Hey Just! isn't that little one of yours ready to hit the ice? It would be great to meet her and to see Jersey Girl again. Hope you can make it Carl, it's not the same without you and some of the other long term members of the original crew. Misterbeam, welcome! Make sure to introduce yourself, I've been ice fishing the cove for over Fourty years

Otsz, Pete...... I could just keep on going but you all know who you are and it is just so great to hear from so many of you. I'll start a sign up list on the first post soon.

I fished the Cove today for a couple hours and jigged up a bunch of Cappie and a few Bluegill. We had a few flags and we let the boy answer them all but he only managed to land one average size bass. There was six inches+ everywhere I checked.

Hope to hear from some more of you. If you are on the fence about attending. this is THE event to make if you can only make one. Let's make this year the year we set a new benchmark for gatherings!
