Big Crappie Day
« on: Feb 15, 2011, 05:13 AM »

 :) Crappie Day :)

Called my brother at 7:00am, he can’t make it. I’m on my own.

Figured I’d try one of our regular spots, got there about 8:30am, parking was good and the slush was frozen, walking was good.

Someone was in the spot I wanted to go, so I set up next to them. The water was too deep, stayed there anyways. No Flags in the morning.

After talking to the guys next to me they said I could set up next to them. I went to the other side in shallower water at about noon time.

Before I was done moving, the flags started. I ate half my sandwich at 3:00pm and started picking up at 4:50pm.

The smallest Crappie in the picture is 12”. I had one more at 10” and threw it back.

I put a yard stick in the picture to give an idea of the size.

 Final Tally:

11 Crappie (1) 10” the rest 12”, 13”, 14”+, 15”
1   Rainbow
2   Pickerel  18”, 19”
1   Blue Gill

30+- Flags

Wish my brother was there, I was tired.

Those are sine trophy size  crappies. I bet it was Webster lake. It has trout and crappies, unlike most ponds

Your new, aren't you? It's in Webster ma. You may know of it as the Indian lake that has no nd to its name and mean I fish on my side, you fish on yours, and no one fishes in the middle. It's right by Connecticut

You can catch a  Pike but its pretty rare now. They haven't stoked it since like 98. tts very popular for boating and the fishery has gone down hill over the years. But you can still catch some big fish.

It just means there are some real trophys on there. T takes like 5 years for the pike they stock to reach legal size anyways

I have yet to hear of someone catching one this season. They are there, just very few.
