Aqua Vu Ice pro in open water
« on: Dec 14, 2003, 12:38 PM »
I've heard that the ice pro can't be used in open water. What is the reason for that or can you use it in open water? I reall like some of the features of this camera but don't want it if I can't use it year round.

Hi Zach,
is that the one that we talked about on the lake last time?
Mark is still looking at them. If thats the one with the fake crappie, the camera points down, some of the other ones point horizontal and can be rigged to point down. That might be the one for a down rigger and trolling........See Ya soon on the ice.

Yeah, thats the one w/ the fake crappie. I've heard that it isn't viewable except in an ice shanty though, so I don't know. Maybe its something with the monitor? Or maybe its just cause theres nothing around the screen which could be fixed.

I think they all are hard to see in the day light, I had two differant kinds
Home brew and a Atlantis and both were hard to see out side.
I think they make a sun sheild for them. That should help, I think there a blast anyway. It help find a lost pole at the bottom over the summer.

Yeah, I figure if i put a sheild around it it should work. BTW, I went icefishing off docks today (2" of ice) and caught a 12" parrot bulldawg and a minnow net. Both on a nils master jigging shad.

With the AquaVU Ice Pro the camera is always in DownView mode.  There is no where to attach a weight or fin to stabilize the camera in open water.  Also, aqua vu did not put thier ultra beefy cable on it because its designed for ice fishing so the camera wont get stuck on anything.  No need for the beefy cable.  I'm sure if you were anchored in one place, the ice pro would work in open water, however, if you were moving... Probably not.  Its designed for ice fishing!  Not open water.
