Frabill Pro Thermal Tip-up
« on: Dec 29, 2009, 04:03 PM »
I just got 2 Frabill Pro Thermal Tip-ups and was wondering if there was any way to increase the drag on it.  I'm not even sure it has a drag but I just wanted to make sure.

There is no way I know of to increase the reels drag and I can't think of a good reason to do so. If what you want is a heavier trigger for when you use large bait so they don't keep popping the flag then you can file the trigger slot deeper. I use the HT Polar Therm Extremes that are essentially the same disc and mechanism. Mine have a light setting and a heavy setting on the trigger and I did file the heavy to be deeper and solved the bait flag problem.

Pull the shaft and put some dino wheel bearing grease on the shafts, will turn harder.

Take the Frabils back and exchange them for Heritage Lakers traps...

I use tipups with a drag system so I can use bigger bait and they don't trip the flag
