Messalonskee Pike Catches for 2018

Hi Folks. 

Curious how those of you who fished for Pike on Messalonskee Lake this year made out?

I for one had a tough year catching Pike vs 2017.    The numbers for me were down about 75%

That is fantastic news and confirms our similar results in the Belgrades.  Hopefully sportsmen will continue to stay the course on harvesting all of these illegal introductions as IFW wishes, seems to be working.

Though it is good news to IFW and our natives, but more and more people are considering them gamefish and want Maine to be like all the other states without unique opportunities. I like the fight a big predator puts on, but not at the cost of our cold water fisheries.

There's no possible way you could eliminate pike in any body of water barring draining it or poisoning every fish in it! Can't answer why you caught less , but you can be sure it wasn't because fishermen caught so many you saw the difference!

Didn't ice fish it this year but this past open water season was one of the best I've had up there.  Lots of nice fish...all released healthy.
