13 Fishing Black Betty Multiplier Ice Reel
« on: Dec 12, 2012, 10:36 AM »
anyone have experience with this?  specifically whether or not you can change the side of the handle?  forever i have jigged w/ my right hand holding the rod and left hand on the handle.  from looking at this reel it seems i'd have to hold the handle w/ my left hand?  unless i'm missing something?

Do I heave any experience with a 100 dollar ice reel? I can say emphatically NO! But it looks really nice.

yes you can change from left to right. Matt from 13 Fishing has a nice YouTube video showing how easy it is to do. I just got mine and its a quality piece of machined asluminum that has a free spool that will not quit turning. One smoooooth reel. Now we need ice!

Enter "channel13fishing", i found it pretty easily. That 6061 looks pretty nice, i have a regular black betty that i am returning. When you loosen the drag, the spool wobbles. The 6061 looks alot nicer than the black betty, definitely worth the extra $60.

I can find the you tube video describing how to operate the reel but nothing on how to make it right hand reel. Maybe I'm just not the best at finding you tube vids

Unscrew the Pushbutton cap (#1) and remove the Spring (#11), remove the screw (#4) and lock plate (#7), remove the handle (#9), unscrew the star drag (#11), remove the elastic spring/washer (#13).

Now flip the reel upside down and slightly push in and out on Drive gear guide (#25) do this kind of fast in order to remove the ball bearing (#14), continue this to remove the one way clutch (#15) and the one way clutch ring (#16).

Now flip the one way clutch (#15) 180 degrees, so that the plastic seal on the clutch is facing in towards the reel. Slide the clutch ring (#16) and the one-way clutch back onto retrieve guide (#25) and continue reassembling the reel in reverse order.
