what are your guys favorite reels?

Just trying to get some feedback on your favorite reels or brand.. Its time to update a few of my rods iam thing about Shimano Sedona or Sienna.. or the Abu Garcia Cardinal series..

I pick up 2 pf the Shamano Sedonas 500FD during the spring been using it with 2lb test,  So far its been a great little reel.  Excellent drag,  Spools up line nice and even.  Have not used it on Ice yet but plan on using one with 2lb and 4lb test.  I have some Ticas that I have been using, but I think these Shamanos are going to be the better reels.

Yeah thanks for the input.. I think iam gonna pick up 2 Sedonas.. I cant get Tica's around here i wish i could. The stradics are a little pricey for me maybe, will see if i can find a deal one them.. I do plan to put one of my abu garcia Soron STX20s on my new laker rod that iam waiting for i think that would be a good fit

Mine is now a baitcasting reel.  Shimano Chronarch 50Mg.   

I will be testing out two Curado 50E this ice season and see how that goes.

As for spinning reels, it's a Sustain 1000 but I have more Stradic 1000's that gets more use.  In addition I had an older Sahara 750 that went to war against a monster sturgeon and held it's own to the beast that wouldn't fit through my 8 inch ice hole.  I didn't think much of that reel but after that, I have some respect for it.  I'm sure the newer ones willl be a lot better.

I also run two Pfleuger Presidents 6720.  They're okay, but I think I would've prefer the next size up 6725 just for the thread in handles.

have a tica cetus, and dont like it the roller bearing is not very smooth get line twist like crazy not very happy beign i paid good money for it, i returnd i twice same problem, bought a shimano sedona 500 and love it im slowly converting all my ice rods to shimano and not looking back. all this was against my better judgment since for open water i will only use quantim reels, but in my opinon the dont make a good ultralight reel, now that shimano 500 are esier to find around here thats my choice

You'll find that Sedona blows away the Tica Cetus hands down ...

I've slowly replaced all my reels to Shimano ... I used Quantum, Fin Nor, Abu Garcia, Okuma, Pinnacle, HT, Pflueger, you get the idea.  I started with all my open water rods, then my ice reels, and bought 3 Stratics, a Sustain, 3 Symetres, 5 Saharas, a Sienna, 2 Sedonas and so on. Also fell in love with their baitcasters as well, Bought 4 Curados, 1 Citica, 1 Scorpion, and 2 Calcuttas. I love my Shimano reels!

Many get the wrong idea about what makes a good reel, Shimano always uses good bearings even on their entry level reels.  Other companies try and sell you with high bearing counts like 11 bearings on a spinning reel ... my old 3 bearing Shimanos blow away any 11 bearing Okuma I ever had. I have retired many reels, but not one Shimano. I buy Shimanos for LIFE.

I have 5 Pflueger Trion GX,that I bought at a steal $10 each at Gander Mountain,that are one smooth reel,I have many others that I like but the Trions are very nice.I've seen them sell for 29-39 bucks.

I have siennas on 3 of my rods and I am very happy with their performance.....I will probably put them on the rest  eventually .

For catching with small ultra light jig flies, a Slater canepole reel. For jigging, heavy Kastmasters the President.

I have several of these I use both hard and soft water,small,light and very smooth drag.
