East Twin ice/fishing report
« on: Jan 13, 2018, 08:37 AM »
Hi,
Im new to this site. From the Bristol area, dont have much time to get out and scout before I fish these days. Anyone have any reports for East Twin?  Ice thickness?  Hows the fishing been?  I am planning a trip later this week. Any help or insight is much appreciated.

Thanks
Bryan

Welcome to the site Bryan. Perhaps someone will chime in about East Twin, but most folks are getting ready to check conditions after the rain. Maybe there will be a report in a day or two. If and when you go, it would be helpful to others if you post regarding your trip.

Spoke to Oharas boat launch. Doesnt have a thickness report but says there are guys out there and there is no water around the edge. Ice is all the way in.

Ive fished it a ton during the spring but only a few tines through the ice. They have a healthy population of Browns and Rainbows good sized yellow perch and lg mouth bass. Ive personally caught nice perch, decent bass ,a few browns and a brookie through the ice. Supposedly there is a sustainable Kakonee Salmon population however Ive never seen or caught one. But I havent targeted thrn either.

Well fished today. 6-30’ of water. A lot of perch, most decent, some humpbacks. A 15oz Rock Bass!  A nice fat Rainbow, decent brown and a few small pickeral.

10-12 inches of clear black ice covered with about 8-10” of untouched snow.

Covered holes seemed to produce at least 3-1 over uncovered. Waxies were ok for jigging.

Saw a post on Facebook of a 30+ in brown pulled out of there today. Maxed out his scale that goes up to 14lbs. Maybe a new state record? Lucky guy

Do you usually do that much better with covered holes?
I’ve heard of guys drilling extra holes around their tilts for the opposite effect.

This is my first year with covered holes. Not sure if because the ice was snow covered or that mine were the only ones covered but there was definitely a difference.

You can park on the lake sides of the road just be mindful of the houses. There are spots between the houses where you can tuck in off the road to let others by. I havent had an issue yet.
