Title: BLUE GILL TECHNIQUE
Post by: walleye-charlie on Mar 18, 2003, 01:10 AM
WAS OUT FISHING SATURDAY FOR BLUEGILLS AND WAS WATCHING A GENTLEMAN FISH AWAY NEW TO ME. HE HAD HIS POLE STRAIGHT ABOVE THE HOLE AND SPINNING THE POLE IN A CIRCULAR MOTION. THEN LOWER THE POLE WHILE WATCHING THE LINE TO CATCH BLUEGILL. DOES THE SPINNING OF THE BAIT ATTRACT THE BLUEGILL BETTER. HE WAS HAULING THEM IN.  CAN SOMEONE HELP.

Sometimes when the fish don't respond to your jigging methods, something different can trigger them.  I haven't tried that trick, but I have tried with success pinching the line between your fingers and spinning the line back and forth, then let it sit.

MNgonefishing, you actually couldn't have said it any better!

Sometimes any motion is good.  Sometimes guys spend to much time alone in cold weather and think crossing their eyes while lighting a cigarette is what triggers a fish to bite.  You never know I'll try anything twice. ;)

I'm with you on that fatboy ,I do that when the bite is slow also.Another thing I do is when I'm jigging I tap lightly on the pole with my index finger to put alittle bounce on my jig.
