Just order my first beaver dam tip up. I've only used the cheap plastic polar tip ups and haven't had much luck with them. Always, something going wrong with them. After reading and reading and reading on the best tip up, by far beaver dams have the vote. Let their be ice!!!

You will end up giving your old tip ups away and buying more beaver dams. They will last you a lifetime so the price is not bad.  Steve

That's why I spent the extra coin. I've read a ton of posts on them, and I keep hearing how they're still good after 30 years of use. Most of the lakes I fish, I'm only allowed 2-3 lines, so I normally set a tip up and jig. So I don't mind spending the money on them, since I'm not buying 5 of them.
