I've been chasing geese and ducks mostly so I haven't really been hard at it for pheasants...no bird dog, but I've taken a hen and a rooster...talk about good eating!  ;D My bro-in-law's b een working that G&F access the next one above Long Point,  up on Summer Hill Road and he's shot several in the last couple days.     D

I was over at the outlet at daylight, duck hunting, most of the lake is  still iced, but it's hinky stuff...guy was out on pretty good ice at Sandy Cove...couldn't help but notice though, some brave soul put their body through about ten yards out over by the outlet ???

Doggbiter and I were fishing Boysen end of the  season last year. I brought my stuff back when we were ready to go then I was gonna go back and get his stuff...didn't like the looks of the ice near the bank where we went on so I took a detour...what 2 inches of ice was there was real good just not enough to handle the weight of me and my 4 wheeler over the hot spring...ba-loosh! Sat there running, buried up to the tailpipe. It's un-nerving when all you can do is bail off and level the machine so it sinks upright. Yeah, that was cold.  ???

I used to start fishing early on 3 to 4 inches of ice but now I tend to wait a little longer. I also quit as soon as the ice starts coming up in chunks when your drilling holes. sucks when your out in the middle and you head for shore only to find out it opened up on the edge. First ice and last ice can be some of the best fishing there is, just got to decide if its worth it.

did you know you were going to go through or it just happen? at least you werent in to deep. I bought me a set of coveralls off of ebay that are suposed to keep you afloat. their also insulated. Was going to jump in some water this summer to see if they would work but I didnt get that done. Hopefully I won't have to find out the hard way.

Never saw it coming, but the 4 wheeler dump was the real surprise. The ice was that blue/clear hard stuff...just that the hot spring had taken it from 6 inches (surrounding area thickness) to two inches over the spring ???

Cool...I've seen those advertised...sometimes, I've thought of just strapping on a life preserver, you can al;ways take it off after you punch though 6 inches of good ice, but if you're not wearing some kind of flotation...woooo-weeee!  ???
