What we need is a Frisbee-based solution that can serve as entertainment while the guys wait for flags to pop.

Time for someone with ingenuity...

Less than the cost of a Frisbee!  :o

Just get the clam plate, and your worries are over! Oh I see they cost $60, but you have a flasher of some kind that costs $2-500.

For me the plate is just unneeded weight, space in my sled and expense.  Plus it pretty much commits your drill to the plate.  Had one and gave it away.  Now I just use the drill with the removable arm that came with my drill.  Works great and my drill comes off easily to travel in a bucket or drill in ice anchors when needed.

It is pretty heavy!! Lol.  Unless u have the gen1 plate (where u take chuck off) drill can be removed in less than 30 seconds to drill in anchors or do house projects. I just throw it in my sled and go, never bogged me down yet and I’m a old man !!

I just used a piece of plywood. Cut it 4" wide and 12" long for a 6" hole, then drill a hole in the center.. I want to say its 1.5" for strikemaster augers but not sure on that, you want it to go over the collar and then the adjustment screw will keep it from coming off. That way it spins freely if it hits your leg and doesn't take up a ton of room in your sled. I'd take pictures of my setup but I ditched it and bought a clam plate for this year.

6" wood disc (for 4" auger) available at local hobby/craft shop (or cut your own), 2 pieces of poly hose and 2 hose clamps. Less than $10 invested.

I got the Bear Creek auger retainer last winter for a decent price and have been using that. No worries about losing my KDrill down the hole anymore.

Heres the one I made. Used a poly cutting board cut out on my cnc router. Adapter is the HT one then bent a piece of 1/4" aluminum rod. Through the adapter and the plate to make sure it doesnt come loose.

$1 frisbee from Wally World, available with the dog toys.  Red, orange, or blue, ~9.5" diameter.  Get a couple trailer hitch cotter pins for $1-$2, and drill a couple holes matching the cotter pin wire diameter, about 1/4" apart in your auger (or adapter, or extension) shaft.  One pin above, one below, like so:  ;)

Damn, now that's overkill!!!   I like it!  ;D

Strikemaster plate modified to fit Kdrill. Foam float pushed up to keep the plate tight. The plate was $4.

Got this at Michael’s hobby store today.  Looks like I’ll be using a combination of ideas shown above.
Stats:  $2.50; 9” diameter; 1/4” thick.

I used, a plastic bucket lid.  It doesn't really move but I prefer a bit more stability.  Then since I still had some pipe insulation, I cut some 4" of that and split it and stuck that under to hold the lid in place.  Duck tape and done.

I did basically the same thing. A bucket lid with a 4 inch screw over the lid with jam nuts keeping it about 1 1/2" on either side of the center shaft.

The clam drill plate weighs approximately 6lbs, it’s worth it as long as it’s not a gen 1

I have been using one of those for a couple of years now.  Very easy to use and works great.

It is also made from steel and won't brake like the cheap aluminum counterparts.  Ask me how I know! :-\
