Won't be long now
« on: Nov 04, 2018, 08:47 AM »
Weather change is here.  According to the weather network, other than today, only 2 days manage to make zero in the next 14 days.  Ice making will start soon

Fingers crossed!!! though the warmer weather this week is a bummer.

I was out on a lower Chain north of Athabasca this past weekend. There was 7 inches of ice everywhere I checked on the south side of the lake.

I was out on 3" at Newell november 12th but stayed in 4 feet of water with 100' of rope tied around my waist and secured to shore. There's now 6"+ at the north end so I'll be headed out today.

Nice!  Good luck.

Snowing like a bugger up here near Edmonton.  This does not bode well for central lakes.  What little ice there is will be easily flooded.  Long term forecast has the temps going right back up.   I think this is a very much wait and see type of year for the bigger lakes.  I might check out Pigeon next week both otherwise might get to Gull the weekend after.  That all depends on conditions though.

Last 3 weekends straight.
Lots of variety in ice depth but no problems
