Well I am definetly biased to her choice in flashers because thats what I use.

The benefit of being the one who works is my budget for fishing is never questioned.

A 24 inch and a 22 inch salmon. A nice fat perch and a missing pickerel we threw back.....not bad for a late start today. No Lakers. ...at all...tipups or jigging.

Nice job. I planned on putting a few tipups out on each trip this year and never did. Did manage to ice a few lakers this year😎

Good luck to everyone else heading out on the remaining ice! My last trip was Saturday with iowaccord and fontana and we really put the hurting on some pissed off lake trout. I don't remember a late ice laker bite quite this good. Ice is still quite solid on the south end of the lake. On to steelhead, stream trout and stripers.

I think the wind is supposed to be out of the south tomorrow which will be the first time in weeks. You might find the ice take a trip, be careful.

Careful is the name of the game this time of year. The threat is rotten ice which you can easily break through a foot of. Floating on an ice chunk in LG isnt very likely regardless of wind. When the ice setup we fished near open water with south winds for weeks in a row.

Conversely the northwest winds pushed open water south towards long island so some south winds would be appreciated.

Yeah most years it's not but I do remember years ago it did happen a guy had to be rescued when a sheet broke free in the southern basin. Someone else might remember it better but I remember reading about it I was definitely done fishing I think when it happened.

In haven't posted here much this year, but we are still fishing Lakers and Salmon, the Laker bite has been real good for this time of year, The smelt
are starting to stack up in front of some of the brooks, that's where you'll find a lot of fish.
