Great idea, but i would suggest making sure you get braided and not twisted. With that said, anybody who has used mason line have they seen one color better than another? I'm thinking I might have to try it this year.

As far as color never noticed a difference.
By buddies daughters have pink on there pink tip ups.. ;D
I have mostly white and some have chartreuse green.
Put a swivel on the end and a leader as long as you want of what ever you prefer for leder line and have at it..   ;D
 Good luck..

There are some Dacron lines marketed ad "fly line backing" (pricier) and "catfish line (cheap, but the same thing) that come in hi-viz colors like orange and chartreuse. Look at those a bit and you''l come across some or ask your local mom 'n pop tackle store if they can get some catfish line for you.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

Bearseatfish another option for tipup line you may what to research is the line used for flying kites believe it is similar to the line used by masons while laying bricks. I agree that you should purchase braided nylon or dacron line for use on your tipups. Long time Ice Shanty sponsor Fish 307 in Lake George,NY. sells 27 and 36 pound test braided nylon in 1,000 yards bulk spools this line is waxed to help slow water absorbing and freeze up not cheap the bulk spools cost $42.00 plus tax and shipping. A 1,000 yards spools should last you several years depending on how many tipups you have and how often you change out the line on them.
