what do you use as a hook for your minnows when they're undera bobber or just in general when fishing for crappies?

I use either a teardrop, a jighead, or a #6 Tru-Turn hook.  Depends on what they are wanting that day is what I will go with.

i like to use size 16 trebel hooks on my tip-downs or when bobber fishing. i don't miss many with these, but because the hooks are so small they can be hard to tie. they are definitely worth a try!

I use a #10 bait keeper hook then hook the minnow just behind the dorsal fin. Hook ups seem to stay that way for me.

I prefer to use a #10 or some times a #8 fine wire hook. They tend to be a little easier on maggots and wax worms rather than a full size bait hook.

When it comes to hooking minnows there are as many different opinions as there are fishermen (and they are all right, of course).   :)

My "rule of thumb" is - through the minnow, and not the thumb . . .

PM me to swap information on fishing holes or to go fish'in sometime in the Syracuse Central NY area (Onondaga and Madison county water holes in particular).
