A trailer with a solid hitch, and I'm putting a wooden rack on mine to carry the auger......other than that, just a good sturdy sled to drag your stuff......Esox

I love my drop basket but you will have to extend your tow hitch for easier access.

Otter sled.  If you need to drag it across roads, praking lots, etc. get some hyfax.  They are replaceable, the sled bottom is not!   Whether you go with a trailer or sled, you can get some good ideas from another thread - http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=27007.0

I made a nice box for my front rack on my Rancher. It holds two 5gal. buckets, a milk create in the middle and it also has a fold down cook top. I use zip ties to hold it on. On the back rack I also made a small carrier my auger. Let me see if I can find a photo to post for you.

Drop basket is key.  Also, i made an auger carrier for the front rack, very handy to have.

Sorry for the quality of this photo :-[ I hope it helps with understanding what I was talking about. In the photo you can see the two buckets and cook stove sticking out on top. It just slides in between the milk create and the fold down cook top. The auger is in the sled on this day but it normally rides on the back rack. It looks a lot like thor94 rack. We had five of us this day and everybody loaded me down pretty good.

If you would like? I'll throw the box on this weekend and take better photo of it. It won't have all my gear in it but at least you'll see it better. It works awesome for me by myself or if I'm out with a buddy fishing.

The truth is ,with a 4wheeler there is nothing you cant take! My favorite is the propane grill for burgers and venison! Screw in bottle ,same as the heater for the clam!

Studded tires, a 450r (2wd sport quad) doesn't go well on ice with out studs.

Tire chains also work good,I have a 2wd foreman that goes pretty much anywhere. Than I run 1/4 inch studs down the center lugs on the front tires to help turn.

I got mine at Cabelas, but i'm guessing they're all pretty much the same.

Might want to take a look at the Fold-A-Sled from Cabelas. Holds a ton of stuff and there is a platform to have someone stand on the back dog sled style. Some guys on here suggested they aren't so good in slush, but we haven't encountered any slush deep enough to be a problem.

Mudlites are a reat tire for the 400 cc machines, not to heay to lose horse power and dig dig dig.  I have a 2WD Rancher and get around great.  If it get to nasty I chain em up and watch out.

Check Tractor Supply for the Drop basket, good price and no extra shipping charges.  If not Sportmans guide has some fairly decent pricing.

Thanks for all of the information.  I think that I am sold on the drop basket and I also think that I will mount my auger to the front of my ATV.  I am trying to get away from having to pull a sled.  Good luck this season guys..
