fishing partner in training
« on: Jan 03, 2007, 03:39 PM »
Took the new pup out today for his first ice fishing trip   He was a trooper considering how icy it was!  We both took our falls and the wind was gusting enough at times to almost blow us both down the pond :o  At one point my pack blew over sending the auger blade cover sailing down the pond, but the pup took off and retrieved it for me as I was busy picking up all my minnows ::)  He dosen't quite know what to make of the fish yet but he is starting to catch on to the flag up thing  Here's a couple of pics-

There is nothing better than the smile on a childs face when they see the fish come up through the hole.

Love your pup.....our fishing buddy is a 4 yr old Springer Spaniel.....he doubles as
a bird dog when we head out for grouse
BTW, if you catch another little pike like that, will you send it up so we can
use it for bait for the lakers we catch???   Thanx...

I just got a 10 month old AKC Chocolate Lab male from a friend of my dad's...They're moving to a place where he wouldn't have room to run, so I was more than happy to take him.  He'll be a great fishing buddy, I can tell...Labs are about the best companions you could want.  I'm also going to try to train him to be a waterfowl/upland hunting dog.  :)

Any pics Zach?  My Neighbor up in AK has a big male chocolate who adopts me every every summer.  He's a good duck dog and this summer he retrieved the better part of 100 squirrels I shot at my cabin ::)
