northeast corner

hey everyone, i'm bran spankin new to this board........but not to ice fishin. how is everybody? catchin anything? i'm from thompson, near the speedway. has anybody done any icefishin around here? this will be my 1st ice season here. i'm originally from RI. never ice fished here. but i'm gonna give it hell. just have to get my augers working. one idles but doesn't take the gas and the other just works when you squirt gas in it. gonna give 'em to my buddy jerry.
        enough of that.........where are there any good spots to fish and has anyone checked the ice? i'm going out checking ice and jig a little tomorrow.
         i was so glad to find this board (forum) dedicated just to my favorite sport.

try tyler lake west hill pond mt tom dog pond winchester lake your best bet would be tyler 7 inches of good ice give it helll let us know how you make out fell free to ask any questions... Good luck

I'm in NE CT too, near Woodstock.

I've never been ice fishing before but hope to start soon. So far all I got is my regular tackle, a single tip up (Getting an ice fishing jigging rod) And I'm just about broke, so it looks like I'm gonna be tagging along with someone who can cut holes in the ice for me or hitting weekender's holes on Monday with some heavy object.

hey velcro......if you're gonna chip the holes, remember to tie off whatever you're using so it doesn't fall in when you suddenly break thru. a local hardware store like jim's in grosvenordale or aubuchon will sell a nice digging bar for about $20. point on 1 end and 2 1/2" blade on the other. used one for years till i got an auger. i might have a hand auger. i'll have to find it. if i do, i'll post it.

i give up trying to put an avatar pic. i followed all the directions and still get nothing. i gotta be doing something wrong. i'm using photobucket, if that helps.
