which should i do?

a)  lake has 3" big walleye
b) lake has 2-2.5"  more smaller walleye
c) lake has 3"  lotsa crappies (big uns)
d) wait a few days till ice is thicker and can find decent minnows


im sure i can get to my good spots on lakes a and b.....im always by myself tho....

Go after some eyes.  3" is plenty just take a spud and be cautious.

Really? I just want to see all these people who have 2.5 inches of ice or better go out and check the ice with me watching.... I agree with babills, I live in Lapeer as well and have a 1/2 acre pond that I went down to my shins in yesterday only has 1 to 1.5. I wont be even testing any lakes until my pond has at least 4 inches of ice.

Early, marginal/spotty at best ice & solo? There's no fish of any size worth it

well ill give ya my adres if ya want....i used a tape  on the bottom edge of the holes...

 Naw thats ok, I still have enough fillets in the freezer from the summer. Until I see a perm out on the ice, you wont see my butt out there no matter how much i love walleye!

I'd be right there with ya but I have Louis (4) by my side tommorrow. We'll stick to visiting tackle shops and talking about going. Gotta have safe ice when the little guys are involved otherwise I would have already PM'ed ya. Best of luck out there.

well i think you should tell me what the walleye lakes are called so i can fish them lol ;D i would go after the eyes on 3 inches thats plenty me with all my gear and shanty everything i take is probably 425 pounds and i fish on 3 inches all the time just bring a spud ill bring just a bucket auger and spud and fish on 2 inches it should hold just be safe :icefish:
