Easter Day 2018.  Fishing off MDB.  Both of us went through, just quick dips...partner up to armpits.

Lake George locked up pretty good? Any iffy spots? Bringing snowmobile and towable shelter. Thanks

I was out April 3rd 2015. I measured 13" that day, I remember you could scrape a few inches off the top with your boot. I felt like I had the lake to myself, didn't see another soul. I remember getting on and off was kinda interesting. Fish bit great, I remember catching 4 Lakers and maybe 10 small mouth while jigging up my perch.

Me too but got skunked as usual,  lol

Join me Sunday. We went last Sunday more or less where we fished together  last time on George and didn’t get skunked
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

Heading up for the first time to ice fish the King.  Planning to head out of Pilot Knob area.  Have a quad with chains, but from what I have been seeing on here regarding possible snow accum and inconsistent ice it seems that walking might be the safest bet.  Was thinking 50-70' using tubes, swimbaits, jigging raps, etc.  Can anyone that fishes that area provide any pointers?  Smart or dumb to leave the quad at home?

Ah being the atv. Walking is going to suck. If you start to hit some thin ice hop off and walk.  I’ve parked my atv in the middle of the lake and went the rest of the way on foot.  Worst comes to worst. It sits on the trailer.

Anyone have thoughts on the perch bite lately?

I’m fairly new to ice fishing in general, but have focused on perch-I’m really liking it.  Every time I go I’m hitting huddle.  I went Sunday and Monday of this week, and caught probably (between two of us) about 45-50 with 25 keepers (8 1/2”+).

I know some days people say they can have a limit in an hour.  Is it slow lately?  Is this normal?  I’m hole hoping a decent amount.  I found a spot I love that seemed to have the flasher lightening up early and then intermittently as it got towards afternoon, and then seemed to die from 1:30 on...

Just wanted to get others take on this too

Thanks

Those guys that say they can have a limit in a “hour” are keeping every perch they jig up, to do that. Have you ever seen the pics those guys put up? I’d be shocked if there were 10 about 9” or so. Most are 7-8” they keep. Not my cup of tea, but they have a right to it.

I only fish huddle for perch as well. You can walk out of there with a solid limit of 9-12”+ fish but you gotta work for them and toss those 7-8”ers back.

I love they locked out the post about the access being closed on LG thread

They should ban all talks of LG and this state would be a borderline tolerable message board

As it stands all NY talk is a group text between guys talking about "the king"

I'm not saying they're biting on Brant.  But they probably are

News 13 (local) said Bolton Landing reported 6.5" of snow. I do know there was a good amount of sleet/ice so If its anything like my local lake its a crust of ice as you walk breaking through to either glare ice or slush layer by now. Warm today and rain expected tomorrow. Hopefully machines have some trails beat down.

I don't recall any sleet or ice.  It was fairly cold during the storm.  It has been warmer the last 2 days though to knock the snow down

My son lives on top west mountain,  I live below Albany.  During the storm we both got heavy freezing rain/sleet about 8pm while I was plowing, it was 26 degrees.
Its been warmer since at my house but the snow is still crusted from the sleet.  Only the eastern or southern spots melt during day and refreeze after sundown.

I'm only speaking of these areas.
I'm hoping like heck we get a good rain and warm temperatures tomorrow to knock this crap out , then deep freeze to solidify what's left of the snow
