My favorite is the Hali Sukkula, a finnish jig made by Nils Master, tipped with spikes, minnows, minnow tails, perch eyes or salmon eggs. REMEMBER: ALWAYS FISH RIGHT ABOVE BOTTOM!!!

lf you're marking fish l start with swimming jigs like a jigging rapala tipped with waxies or minnie head.lf there not that aggressive l'll try spoons next tipped with either a minnie head or a whole minnie hooked thru the stomach with the head facing bottom. Then l'll go to the double and triple teardrop tied leaders tipped with waxies.l don't use the good minnies either l use the ones that are dead, you know the ones floating in the bait bucket everybody throws away, and got a good stank to 'em.They'll let you know how aggressive they're feeding then it's a matter of presentation and color....... :'(

l believe too much emphasis is placed on color and for the wrong reasons. Most fisherman in general don't know how fish see color. In the clearest water red has the worst visibility to a fish, meaning they have to be close to see it.Blue on the other hand can be seen the best, then green.Add some color to the water and it gets harder to see.But with ice, water clarity is at it's highest level. So perch colors are always a good choice because they eat each other! That's only one portion of the formula though. In cold water their senses don't function correctly which is what we rely on to trigger strikes. Two other portions are feel,or vibration,if it don't feel right they ain't doing it.Last but not least it's gotta smell goooood.Put those three components together with the most emphasis on presentation and you'll ice alot more fish consistantly..... :'(
