heard there is a lot of open water after today's wind is it true? If it is hopefully it locks up tight with the cold weather this week!

Esox you cannot be a former jar-head...I thought once a jar-head always a jar-head...this stretch of cold should do something good, you didn't get any snow up there did you?

NO snow.....none, ground is bare., and I'll be a gyrene pretty much forever....I may not still wear the uniform, but even 30 years after the fact, I can still fit comfortably in them...

I have been searching everywhere to find out if there is anywhere to park now. Just finding old treads. Has anything been done for the parking? Used to like fishing there but havn't in some years now.

I see alot of issues with parking on Chaumont bay.  I have a place on the bay- my recommendation is to get your bait at Chaumont Hardware, then drive to point pennisula state park.  Lots of parking, easy access to bay, and a nice protected cove which does not get all broken up by the wind.  There are weed beds in there and this spot normally holds nice perch.  Please respect the Bay though-  pickup you trash when heading out.

My cousin, uncle, and I have a trip planned up to Chaumont for Thursday, Friday, Saturday... was wondering how the Pike bite is. My uncle would like to get on some pike (me and my cousin want walleyes but we'll settle). Last year we fished Sawmill and didn't find any. Then the next day we headed out toward Johnson's and found some perch but no pike or eyes. Looking to be point in the right direction to get on some decent pike fishing. You can send me a pm if you don't want to post on here.

Thanks

I was out there today. Rough day! Caught about 40 fish kept 9. I was with Boggey and he did about the same. Bite was great in the morning and just died around 12. There were sleds and 4 wheelers out there. I was on around 6" of black. Today's conditions aren't doing the ice any favors. By the time I left there was almost a foot of snow and the wind was hollowing. Had to have been 35mph plus.

One last note I have to give it to Boggey he was the only man amongst us boys. He sat on a bucket the whole day with no gloves. At one point as I was huddle over a heater shaking from the cold he says to me, "Matt, this is my kind of weather"! As we walked off he tells me the only thing that's cold is one of his fingers. That's a man. Hat off to you buddy!

Pondskipper, how in gods name did you guys ever make it across that bay pulling sleds. I was dead tired after 100 yards.

I was out on there today with my wheeler and shanty , lets just say between the winds and everytime we stopped ice was cracking, I took the wheeler back to my truck and ended up hand pulling it . But looking forward to tomorrow when snow  stops. And for those asking where to park , there is a public boat launch right in village . Its right in the area of the fire hall. watch for the big sign and follow it all the way back .
