Ground pounder/ Professional Camper and a few others.  Air Force...Wingnut.   My brother retired from the Coast Guard...he had to wait 2 yrs after he graduated from High School to get in...wasn't able to meet the minimum height requirement of 6 ft....reason for that is so that if your little boat goes down you can walk to shore...

Hey now... ;D  This ole knuckle dragger got lucky and left with all ten fingers...even learned to count to 21 without taking off my shoes and socks.   Ever since I fished the bay this year for a couple of bass tournaments I have committed to coming up and giving the hardwater a try....if it is even close to what the smallie fishing is like all I can say if whoa ;D ;D

Chaumont is now the VFW thread!!! ;D  Chaumont is really fun to fish when the ice is good for sure...a little intimidating with questionable ice because you can go out miles and miles...the Perch are large, the Pike are large, Walleyes will surprise you and there are other fish that lurk out there that can change your day...I hope she freezes up good this year!

You saw a pic of that 12 pound eye I got last winter...my goal this winter is to make that one look small, and I've got a good idea where to go and make it happen...

If you're on the perch, the eyes aren't far away...caught most of my eyes last year on my perch rig....

The biggest problem most guys have is they're using the minnows for the perch (either because they're money fishermen, or they want the quick catch) and in that haste, lose the technique needed to catch the big eyes.

Hey did anyone make it out today to check the ice and or fish? I might head out tomorrow but am wondering how the ice is and if the bite has improved since Sunday. Guffins and Chaumont info is appreciated. Thanks.

I've caught gills on fatheads 5ft below the ice in 20ft of water on tip-ups while trout fishing I was in shock!

You can get on from the park. Just before the launch. A little closer to rt.12.  Plenty of parking. Sometimes this access is much better than the launch, it doesn't get all broken up by machine traffic. Just respect it.  :)

Well enough of that.....I called my parents who have migrated to Florida for the winter and told them to shut the window that's letting all the warm air migrate north.   Next week looks like temps in the teens hope it locks up good and solid.   I really want to get up there and try it out.   Who knows maybe we can start a ice chapter of the VFW  ;D
