Lots of ice on small lakes 6-8" as of last Saturday.  4-5" snow cover.  No slush.  People are fishing large lakes but test the ice over deeper water.

I’m coming down in the first weekend of March for a little fishing trip. Hope the ice isn’t too thick for my battery powered auger 😂
Anyone been fishing in the lakes there recently?

Haven't been fishing but crossed two lakes by snowmobile a couple days ago.  Felt like I was on a waverunner, slush was unreal!  Thought the slush might be tightening up a bit with the cold weather but apparently the snow is providing enough insulation.

Oh boy gonna have to bring the sled down. Maybe some warmer days and a nightly freeze will help

Going down tomorrow, got a cabin in Gaastra. Likely going to target crappie and pike on ice lake tomorrow and figure out where to go for the PM

Plenty of ice with around 20" but plenty of slush.  Navigation is difficult.  I wouldn't take a side-by-side out there.  Even snowmobiles are getting stuck if they stop by their fishing spot and its slushy.  Warmer temperature will eventually get rid of the snow and then it will all freeze together.  We were out at Iron Lake with the High School fishing derby last Saturday.  That was before the big snowfall on Sunday.  Even on the plowed road trucks that tried to go out broke through the slush and had to go back carefully.

No slush, it’s all frozen but you’ll break through it while walking
Panfish bite is really good on ice lake and had a decent amount of flags so far

We also tried Indian, iron and sunset again. Caught pike on every lake we tried but didn’t get many flags. Not completely familiar with the lakes down there. Best panfish bite was on iron and ice lake. Lots of small ones

I’ve been up in chassell pike fishing and we’ve went from 20 to 14 inches of ice. Really slippery to walk on. I assume it’ll be similar there as well.

Give Gloria from Luckey’s a call. She always gets customers in there giving her reports on lakes. Really helpful

We were out last Saturday and the ice is in excellent condition with no slush and no snow on top.  20" of ice but 6" of it is lower quality frozen slush layer.  Not very slippery where we were as temp were in the 50's and windy

I think you will be lucky to find safe ice by then. This weekend its going to take a beating with 50+ temps. Add the 3 days of rain next week and im willing to bet shorelines will be gone.

Lots of good ice as of 3/20.  No snow or slush.  Rain coming for 2 days.  Mon/Tues in 50's.  All before 3/25.

I'm not in Iron County, but many lakes by me around Land O'Lakes are losing ice at shore.

Ice is done now.  We went out on Saturday.  No one else around.  We were limited to only certain places on the different lakes we visited.  Most lakes were not accessible even with a board.
