just got back from there Sunday....fished jan 2,3,4....got our butts kicked.....seemed to be chasing the bite and never caught it...started on Thompson...dead sea...schaffers has a few fish in it, but mostly very small...tried to fish poinsett and a small blizzard happened and could barely get off the lake....missed that bite by an hour...if there isn't a plowed road out, its very tough to get around....we had people in our group fish brush, 81 ponds, sinai, and spirit....this year was by far the toughest weve ever had in the area....and we had pretty decent weather....soooo.....
good luck

I know this may not be for the area, but our fishing further North (Bitter & Waubay) was almost the same. We were there over the same time period as Mason from above. Very tough fishing, not very many fish caught. Also same thing up there with the lakes, if there isn't a plowed road, you more then likely aren't going anywhere. It was tough.
Thanks,
Paul in Palmyra, Nebraska

Heading up late tonight.  Hopefully we have better luck.  Looks like a cold front will be moving in tomorrow night so we better get on them right away.  Could be tough after that.

Yeah not to happy about that cold front, didn’t pick a great weekend to come up, but oh well can’t predict the weather when planning the trip, long as my heaters stay working still be a good time being on the ice finally, bad day fishing better then good day at work!!😁😁
