Couple Browns
« on: Jan 19, 2018, 11:50 AM »
Hit Comet this morning for a few hours. Had 4 flags and landed 2 12in'ish browns. Wasnt able to get a sniff on the jig rod tho.
Both were released and swam off strong.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

It fishes much better through the ice, though still usually slow.

I catch a whole bunch of trout from shore during open water there. I usually average around 3 trout in a couple of hours. The key is to fish shiners and worms under floats instead of on the bottom.

Fall time I was averaging about 10 fish a trip with power eggs. Still haven’t caught one through the ice there. With a flasher coming tomorrow was thinking about giving it a shot again. How deep of water were you fishing?

I got hits on tipups in 15 and 20 ft of water.

Ice was fine. No issues at all.

It wasnt for a lack of effort either. I mush have drilled 30 or so holes and jigged them all. I did mark some fish, but they were non committal. I think they were small bluegill/perch as they would nibble at jig.

Were you out on Comet as well?
