Mora blade replacement?
« on: Dec 22, 2002, 03:57 PM »
My gas auger took a dump on me this weekend and I need insurance in case it happens again.  My Mora needs replacement blades.  I usually sharpen my gas auger blades, and have sharpened my mora blades but I think it's time for new ones beacuse they won't hold an edge?  Anyways, anyone know where I can pick up some blades via the net or phone?  Strikemaster wants too much for shipping, wondering if anyone has a better connection?  Your help is appriciated!

Thanks Fishydog,
I have a $10 coupon for Cabela's I might have to use.  Tried google search, nothing but run-a-rounds.  Thanks again :'(

Barleydog, I'm not sure where you are located but I just bought a spare set for my 8" at a store called Trader Horn. They are located in Western Pa. I paid $11.88 I thought it was a good price since I had just seen a set for $16 at our local sport's shop. A gentleman on a previous post said they are very difficult to sharpen by hand. Hope this helps. Lou

Ditto for Walmart.  I bought half a dozen of them a few years ago when they clearanced them out in the spring for $2 apiece.

Fellas if you can believe that I live in a city that doesn't have a Walmart, believe it!  The nearest one is a 7 1/2 hour drive south of here, and I only make that trip maybe twice a year.  I got really lucky and found a place in Fairbanks that had blades, so I shelled out 15 bucks for em'.  Took the old ones to a saw shop in town, thanks everyone and KP for the advice.  The gas auger is running again and just in time! With 36" of ice, I didn't want to hand crank it anymore!
