Southern Luzerne county
« on: Jan 19, 2020, 04:03 PM »
I drove around southern Luzerne county today. Ceasetown open. Moon lake looked about half frozen from the boat launch out. Silkworth open. Sylvan 95% open. A little at the launch and outlet areas. Susquehanna/Wayne county/Poconos might be the only areas safe next weekend.

Just a FYI, they are all in Northern Luzerne county, ceasetown is illegal to ice fish and Silkworth is private.

I will try to get a report on Silkworth later. I know a guy that drives past it every day. If that capped  Moon and Sylvan should be too.

Silkworh capped overnight last night. I imagine moon did the same but I didn't check it. I live right between the two.

On moon today at boat launch, it was iffy, 3 1/2 to 4 but yup could hear it cracking every other step. Didn’t get anything in 4 hours (8-12) 2 flags dropped after 10’  and a couple hits  jiggin that I missed.

Sylvan was 2  1/2 at best  Wednesday afternoon.  Haven’t been there since. I doubt it’s safe. I’m at Silkworth which is also not safe.

Sucks. For sure. Here in SEPA all the lakes were open water  on Wed. Now they all have skim ice again. I can't even fish the open water. Now that sucks !

Safe ice is around here and there but not plentiful, this is from Friday, Susquehanna county.
