Propane Heaters
« on: Jan 09, 2014, 09:12 PM »
I have a Clam Scout flip over that I need a small heater for. I have a Mr. Buddy that is too big when my daughter climbs in with me. Looking for a smaller heater that would run on a 1 lb cylinder. Any recommendations???

I have a dura glow "mr buddy" knock off. Takes one of the 1lb propane tanks. I use it in my clam jr 2 person and let me tell you, on low that thing has us removing layers. My ten year old son an i fish and he wants it warm. If we crank it to high it practically sweats us out of the shanty. Should heat your scout just fine!  The portable small ones are nice too. Ive seen em for sale fairly cheap at wally world or other big box stores. Check harbor freight too, thats where ours came from.

Thanks guys, I took my 11 yo daughter out today as the weather broke a little, we didnt need a heater as I usually just use my lantern to knock the chill off a bit, but figure if she is gonna start going with me I better make her toes toasty..

Anyone use a Coleman Sportcat?
Don't fall in. Unless it's a big one.

I use a coleman sportcat. My son and I fish from a clam nanook shelter. On real cold days it does not keep up. My son wants it warm like our living room. I am looking for something that puts out more heat.

Little buddy puts out 3800btu, which is good for 100sq ft. That will easily heat most flips overs out there.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

do you have the Big buddy or portable buddy? the portable buddy might  work for you, just a bit smaller.......or as stated a Good propane lantern throws off a lot of heat.........

also if feet getting cold is an issue.......maybe get a small rubber mat to put down. Its amazing the difference it makes.....I have a small rubber runner that I take out with my daughter and her feet dont get cold half as fast.
