New to Alberta - Looking for Fishing Buddies
« on: Oct 02, 2017, 04:18 PM »
Hey everyone, Ice Shanty member here from the Vermont forum. I relocated to Calgary for work a few months ago and I'm ready to take this season on!

I live in the Calgary area. When can we expect hard water for Southern Alberta? Anyone interested in showing me a good time on the ice when the season kicks off?

Thanks!

Welcome to Canada and Southern AB.

There's 3" of ice on some bays of Lake Newell (2 hours east of Calgary) and cold temps in the forecast, I'll be ice fishing next weekend on my days off. Hit me up later in the season when I have my shack out and we'll fish Newell for a day.

Welcome to Calgary, home of the long drive to get icefishing. LOL

I'm thinking there may be some small north central ponds ready for ice fishing by next weekend. Not sure if I can go yet... but they don't wait on me.

tight lines to ya and maybe we'll get a chance to fish together.

Everything is frozen up by red deer... I was out at twin lakes by Rocky mountain house and it has a solid 4" on it.
Tight lines and big fish
