what channels after the snow? i'm going on the quest for ice in the am (like leave at 9 am) and looking . any point in the right direction would help.
gonna look at N channel, the narrows, adams ,eve and maybe juno/painter.
alot of driving  so if you can rule any out it would help.

I've been out on Painter Channels but that was before the snow. I have heard that they are still good though even after the snow.

i1st channel on JUNO has a good 4" of ice .Just be careful when you walk out on juno that you follow the sled marks and stay away from the shore where the big tree is on the corner of the channel. Other than that there were 20 guys out there. I weigh close to 240  :-[and had no problems.Gills are nice size but not a lot of numbers.

Man was it nice sitting there ,vex screen was lit up but only landed 5 nice gills. Only took 2 rods ,bucket auger ,scoop and wouldn't you know I left the ice flies in my Box. :embarassed:

Take care and be safe..
Happy Holidays

CEM, Have a buddy who was suppose to check out chain (lydick). If he gives me a call I'll post.
I will be working 6 midnight turns all 13 hour shifts. My next open dates to go will be the 28th off Dec.
I would like to get back up to JUNO or maybe Eagle. Plan on checking back. I do know there are some shanties on Eagle on the south side of lake. Will have to see what these next 3 days of weather does to the ice??

talk to ya soon

Ron

Thanks for the update Coopason.  Yeah I like to hit Chain a few times a year because I can usually get some nice gills out of there.  Went to Juno Friday afternoon last week and was marking a ton of them but could only get a few to bite. Nice getting out though.

There were 3 people out on Siminton today.  About 100 yds out in front of Lakeshore restaurant.

I got out for the first time this ice season. The bite was slow and lite.  I managed to catch these 11 gills and 7 were around 9 inches.  It was good getting out.

I don't know.  Haven't been on it, but saw snowmobiles running all over it.  Last night when I was coming home from fishing there were 2 portables on the west end of the lake after dark.

As of last Saturday, the landing had about 6-8" and the Channels on the Eastern portion had about 3-4"

After the last 48 hours of 5 degrees or below, I would bet a nickel that there's at least 8+ all over.

I plan on trying the deeper portion of the lake next week sometime.

This morning's bite was not good for us either.  We only got 10 keepers between 3 of us.  Not sure what is going on, but the wind makes holehopping and being mobile nearly impossible.  Couple that with the ice being 5 inches in one spot and 2.5 inches 25 yards away and it makes you a bit leery about venturing off too far.  The ice should be better by this weekend and hopefully the wind will blow less than 15-20 mph for once.
