well i have been hangin with some older gill strokers and getting my bass handed to me. lol i do fine when the bite is on but when it gets slow they wipe the ice with me. i loose interest if i have to constantly work the bait to get bit. thats when the flags come out. lol caught a couple nice pike but i dont have the pics off the phone yet. i went back to crappy the other night but it was very slow with most being 10-11"ers. i did get one worth a snapshot. a 14"er

last night was not a limit night either but the average size was much better.

I think I saw another Christmas tree laying on the shoreline waiting for deployment. The wind probably blew it down there.  ;D

Wow that is a lot of fish to clean.  How many meals a week do you have fish?  I know I sure would not want to clean that  many.  Congrats on your catch.

what? they were all released. ;D

got in to a few last night.

it was really slow though.  people came and people went.  me and Greg2ha stuck it out till almost midnight. the fish came through every now and then and and we would pick off a few. most caught on minnows n dead sticks set at 4-5ft.(green glow jigs). most were eaters with a few 12-13s tossed in.

the weather and company was alot better than the fishes mood. thanks for the invite buddy  i had fun.

hope the bite is better tonight with this front coming in.

RiverScum & I tried the early afternoon bite. The fish did not get the memo... drill a bunch of holes nothing suspended. Everything really tight to bottom. Only good thing was the temp @ 40. Did manage to ice 4 nice gills. 1 was 11" with another 4 about 8" and 2 dink crappie.

Well got out finally...was at a lake I had not fished in awhile. Got to an ole favorite location (2 houses down from the blue cottage) set a few "PoleCat Plower" tip-ups and drilled a dozen holes through 20 in of ice. picked up a couple keeper gills right out of the gate. RiverScum iced 2 nice crappie and a couple gills. As the night sky darkened and the moon lit up the ice it was over. marked fish in 8 f.o.w and in 23 f.o.w everything tight to bottom. Dropped the aqua view down to get a better look... crappie were in 13-16 f.o.w 3 ft off bottom in the thickest vegetation you could find. Not moving just perfectly still. Gills were sitting on bottom. Dropped Aqua view in another hole and it was right next to a Largemouth Bass. Right next to him camera brushed against him. He didn't move. unreal. all fish that we seen were just motionless. So not a good trip but very educational. Had one tripped flag put it must of just been "gumming" my chub.

when the fish are acting like that, even the best guys can be humbled. Unfortunately it has happened too many times this year. But after last weekend, I'm seeing that change.

I got a couple days off so RiverScum & I hit the ice again. On a search mission for Crappie and maybe a Pike or two. The search was fierce and resulting in a different outcome than we expected. went from 8 f.o.w. to about 25 f.o.w. I was on the electronics and RS was manning the Aqua View. I first mess of perch. I got to try my new fish cleaning set-up in the garage. Now I don't have to hear the "Warden" complain about the smell.

the bass that wouldnt move. lol

i was surprised we got any bites at all after looking at the camera.  i watched a crappie never bat an eye, as polecat drilled a hole rite over its head!  dropped a jig on it without any reaction until it was bumped hard! "zombie mode" is what they were in. lol

I suspect those water temps were playing a role in the zombie fish scenario. Water is most dense and sinks to the bottom at 39 degrees, so if you're reading 37 degrees on the bottom the fish are likely catatonic. That bass may have been in survival mode.
